The Gods On Display At The Onassis Cultural Center NY

The Onassis Cultural Center NY will exhibit "Gods and Mortals at Olympus: Ancient Dion, City of Zeus" until June 18. The exhibit explores the relationship between daily life in the city built on the slopes of Mount Olympus and the mythological abode of the gods at the peak.

The exhibit will be held in an immersive setting, which will feature nearly a hundred artworks and artifacts. Aside from mosaics and sculptures, the exhibit will also feature jewelry, ceramics, glass, coins and implements that date back from the tenth century BC up until the fourth century AD.

A special part of the exhibition will feature Family Sundays at Onassis that offers an interactive introduction to the gods and mortals of Mouth Olympus and ancient Dion. The family program will also touch on archeologists who continue to explore the site today.

Master storytellers narrate each 75-minute program for children aged 6 to 10-years old along with their families. The interactive program allows explorers to look for buried treasure in their very own excavated exploration.

In line with the Gods and Mortals at Olympus exhibition, the esteemed cultural center partnered with the software studio Culturplay to release the video program "Secrets of the Past - Excavating the City of Zeus". The game allows the players to take on the role of an excavator and decide where and how to look for the ancient site.

Players are encouraged to use tools to unearth treasures, examine findings in the lab and present the artifacts in an exhibition. The video game will be available to be explored on-site during Family Sundays and will also be made available for free download at the Apple App Sore.

Guests can enjoy free admission to the Onassis Cultural Center NY, which is located at Olympic Tower, 645 5th Avenue, NY, NY 10022. Family programs will be offered on June 5 at 11:00 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. Reservations are encouraged.
