Student Stabbed By Another Student In School's Bathroom At Palm Beach County

Even inside school grounds, a bloody battle can happen. At a high school bathroom in Palm Beach County, a male student was stabbed by another student, marking the third time in 21 months that an incident of such kind happened in Royal Palm Beach Community High School.

When the bell rang to signal the change of classes, a boy went inside the bathroom. At 8:47 a.m. he was stabbed by another boy and had to be rushed to St. Mary's Medical Center (via NBC).

Robert Avossa, Palm Beach County schools' superintendent, identified the weapon the student used as a pocketknife (via 7 News). As per WPTV, the incident was not a silent match.

"We all saw, because it was like a giant group. But then we saw the police pushing everybody away," student Lian Bessieres said to WPTV.

The school temporarily went into a code yellow lockdown to allow the police to investigate before classes resumed for that day via WPTV). The reason behind the attack is unknown, according to NBC, but the bigger question is a matter of security. How did a lethal weapon escape surveillance and enter the campus freely?

Principal Jesus Armas stayed calm and called parents to notify them of the attack (via WPTV). He said, "We had an isolated incident during class change where a student stabbed another. Classes are currently in session and we'll continue the day as normal because there is no reason not to."

This has left parents wary of the security measures imposed by the authorities of Royal Palm Beach Community High School. Some warned the school of their children's withdrawal if stabbing incidents will continue to happen in the future.

"Hopefully, they'll do something about it or I'm going to take my other child out of here," Amber Givens, a parent told NBC.

The other student who attacked was taken into custody. According to NBC, he is going to face charges for attempted murder and possession of weapon inside a school campus.
