"Supergirl" Season 2 is confirmed, but Kara Zor-El (Melissa Benoist) will have a new home. According to reports, there are important reasons why "Supergirl" is moved to the CW and fans will surely be delighted when they learn about it. Read more to know the details.

'Supergirl' Season 2 Moved To The CW

Parent Herald previously reported that the second season of "Supergirl" would be airing on a new network. "Supergirl" originally airs on CBS, but the new season will be aired on The CW.

Per the report, the move was to cut cost. Also, CBS's core demographics tends to skew to older audiences and the superhero drama TV series is geared towards a younger audience, which makes it reasonable to have it on The CW.

'Supergirl' Moved For Longevity

Apart from cutting cost and moving it to a network with younger audiences, Peter Roth from Warner Bros. Television revealed that the move also aims to extend the "Supergirl" TV series. "The move of Supergirl from CBS to The CW is an outstanding shift in every regard. The show's content is more appropriately positioned on The CW, and I believe it'll ensure an arguably longer run on the network," he told the Hollywood Reporter.

"I think the sensibility of the show is better for our producers and what it is that they want to accomplish, and CBS was very good to us in enabling it to happen," he added.

According to Cartermatt, "Supergirl" will have a longer season with 23 episodes on its new network. In fact, there are high chances that it will go beyond season 3. At the time, it is difficult to tell if "Supergirl" will maintain its good performance in its new home, but more likely, it will.
