MMA Ring Girl Jackie Owens Slams The Double Standard in Breastfeeding

Jackie Owens, an MMA ring girl who is paid to wear bikinis and have poses on photos with fighters posted her rant on social media and it has gone viral. The post contains a comparison photo of her on bikinis on the left and on the right, a photo of her breastfeeding her baby.

According to The Stir - Cafemom website, she calls the rant, "perspective and hypocrisy." She even mentioned quote, "If seeing the picture on the left is ok with you, then seeing the picture on the right should be ok with you."

To Jackie, the photos she posted on the Facebook page, The Badass Breastfeeder is to remind people of the double standards that have been experienced by many women in our day. There are still a lot of things to be done with regards to the issue of breastfeeding.

Jackie is a mother of two toddlers; at the same time she trains with professional fighters of the MMA. With her post viral photo post, she was able to speak for and empower other breastfeeding moms out there. She was also able to receive an enormous amount of support and criticism from people on both ends of the spectrum.

Jackie's post only reiterates how much people nowadays sexualize what the part of our bodies function for. Breastfeeding is a natural thing. Yet, many breastfeeding mothers have been a victim of insults especially when their need to breastfeed their babies will have to be done in public. This is because no mother can control when the baby would want or need to be fed. Some people would even suggest to breastfeeding mothers that they feed their babies inside the bathroom instead of being in a comfortable seat in a café. Some people forget that babies are human too, and who likes to eat inside a bathroom.

Kudos to Jackie Owens. She did not only stand up for herself but also to other breastfeeding moms like her.

This news about her is also reported on Today.com. As of this writing, the post has already 1.5 million views, and has been shared for 169 times.
