Funny And Honest Video Reveals How To Make Toast For A Toddler

An author has captured the challenging intricacies of feeding toddlers through a video. Bunmi Laditan made a very honest and laugh-inducing video entitled "How To Make Toast For A Toddler" and posted it on Facebook.

Parents and other caregivers to toddlers would surely relate to the simple but down to earth Facebook video, which is less than a minute in length. As of writing, it has garnered almost 28 million views in the social media site. The video does not even need the visuals of a parent and toddler on screen. It is that compelling.

Video Mirrors Real Life Toddler Feeding Situation

Laditan's first instruction is to pick one "perfect" piece of white bread. Perfect here is elaborated as one that has no buts, seeds, rips, imperfections, but also one that has no nutrients.

This must be toasted to a golden brown color, buttered, cut into two and placed on a plate. This looks standard operating procedure enough. That is until you add more and more butter for the toddler, only to wipe off the excess.

"As per toddler's request move toast to green plate. As per toddler's request cut into squares."  Then the toddler asks for triangles, modifying the request he or she just made moments ago.

The toddler now cries and has to be begged and bribed into eating the toast that was carefully made with effort. Then the parent ends up eating the toast because the toddler only eats a bite. What's frustrating is that the toddler asks for toast much later.

"The video perfectly sums up just how incredibly infuriating it can be to feed young children - from their finicky taste buds, to their near-obsessive need to control every aspect of their meals, to their flighty and ever-changing appetites," said Wendy Wisner of Babble.com. Wisner said that the video is a satire of the cooking tutorial videos spreading on Facebook.

Laughing Is Part Of Parenting - Laditan

"I think we balance being real and enjoying the beautiful parts of parenting by just laughing about it," Laditan said in an interview with TODAY Parents. Laditan has three children.

"Parenting is a wild ride that I wouldn't trade for the world and laughing at the parts that make me want to scream gets me through the day," Laditan added. Laditan authored the books "The Honest Toddler" and "Toddlers Are A**holes: It's Not Your Fault."
