It is hard to imagine "The Flash" Season 3 without Tom Cavanagh, who played Earth-1 Harrison Wells in the first season before returning as the Earth-2 version of the character in Season 2. Although fans can be assured that Tom Cavanagh will still be a season regular in "The Flash" Season 3, it hasn't been confirmed which character he will be playing. Will Tom Cavanagh appear as Earth-1 Harrison Wells in "The Flash" Season 3, or will Eobard Thawne aka Reverse-Flash return to steal his identity again?

Harrison Wells Returns To Earth-2

The final episode of "The Flash" Season 2 saw Tom Cavanagh's Harrison Wells and his daughter Jesse going back to Earth-2 before Barry Allen decides to go back in time to save his mother Nora Allen (via TVLine). Barry Allen's little trip may have ensured that Nora Allen will be safe, but it may have also altered the current timeline of "The Flash." With Reverse-Flash dead in the past, this could mean that Earth-1 Harrison Wells doesn't get murdered. Or does it?

Will "The Flash" Take On The "Flashpoint" Story Arc From The Comics?

The "Flashpoint" comic book story arc finds Barry Allen with no powers. However, his mother Nora Allen is still very much alive while Captain Cold has taken on his role as Central City's hero. Barry Allen eventually realizes that something has caused an alternate reality and must find a way to bring things back to the way they were.

If "The Flash" Season 3 is hinting on following the "Flashpoint" story arc, this could be the most ambitious season for the CW show. After all, the "Flashpoint" story arc involves the rest of the Justice League and it does feature the return of Reverse-Flash.

Will Tom Cavanagh Play Reverse-Flash In "The Flash" Season 3?

According to Entertainment Weekly, Tom Cavanagh has been confirmed as season regular for "The Flash" Season 3. Although his role has yet to be revealed, just the idea that Tom Cavanagh is still part of "The Flash" Season 3 is a true comfort for fans of the show.
