Summer Camp 2016: Aerospace Program Takes Children To The Stratosphere

A summer camp program is allowing children to spend their vacations in the stratosphere. The Aerospace Summer Camp will put kids in hands-on activities that involve aviation and flight.

The Aerospace Summer Camp is offered by the Flying W Airport and caters to children with ages between seven and 11. Campers will be able to build rockets, design airplanes and operate the FlyIt Simulator. In addition, kids will learn the history of aviation, as well as the physics of gravity and flight, among others.

Camp is priced $325 per child and also constitutes healthy meals, field trips, hands-on curriculum and lectures with speakers who are experts on aviation, Courier-Post listed. An additional $15 a day is in place for extended care hours.

The Aerospace Summer Camp has three sessions from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday to Friday. Camp periods will occur on Aug. 1 to 5, Aug. 8 to 12 and Aug. 15 to 19, which will be an advanced session.

Children aged seven to 17 can also experience free introductory flights thanks to the Experimental Aircraft Association. Each flight will occur every Friday from 10 a.m. to 12 nn.

Summer Camps Helps Obese Kids

Obese children will benefit from Kamp K'aana at YMCA Camp Cullen, a collaboration between the Texas Children Hospital and residential summer camp programs. Kamp K'aana is situated in Trinity, Texas and caters to children with ages 10 to 14 with a body mass index of 95.

For two weeks' worth of overnight sessions, Kamp K'aana aims to teach children how to practice a healthy lifestyle and boost their self-esteem through fun-filled activities. That includes horseback riding, water slides, pedal karts, swimming, rope courses and weight training, among others.

Kamp K'aana charges $1600 per kid, but families enrolling multiple children can get a $50 discount. It should be noted that the summer camp program entertains scholarship support. You can register your child at the Kamp K'aana at YMCA Camp Cullen website.

Meals that will be provided will meet the kids' nutrition needs. Camp operators were trained by specialists in nutrition, behavior therapy, psychology, pediatric medicine and exercise physiology about how to properly handle children with overweight issues.

Girls-Only Summer Camp

Architecture and engineering aren't just for men. That's the message being promoted by a girls-only summer camp in Panama City.

Girls Inc.'s Architecture and Engineering Camp will immerse young girls in STEM fields that often have high-paying jobs. The summer camp will hold lectures, field trips, workshops and a design project they can use in their college applications. The program will also allow young girls to visit and talk to architects and engineers.
