'Mary Poppins' Julie Andrews To Star In 'Julie's Greenroom' On Netflix; Show Compares To 'Sesame Street' [VIDEO]

Julie Andrews is most famously known for her role as the woman who took charge of seven mischievous kids who became musical sensations in "The Sound of Music." She's also known as the wonderful nanny in the original "Mary Poppins." In 2017, kids and their parents will be seeing her engaging children again. This time, the accomplished actress is headlining a TV show for kids called "Julie's Greenroom" on Netflix. The upcoming show has been compared to "Sesame Street."

In "Julie's Greenroom," Julie Andrews will play the headmistress of a performing arts school. She will have a young "assistant" named Gus, who is played by Giullian Yao Gioiello. She will also have the help of the Jim Henson Company, the creator of "The Muppets," as her new show will feature the a group of  puppets called the Greenies.

The Oscar-winning actress will have scores of guest stars in "Julie's Greenroom" like Sara Barielles, Ellie Kemper, Titus Burgess, Chris Colfer, David Hyde Pierce, Alec Baldwin, Carol Burnett and Idina Menzel. They will be teaching the kids about arts, dance, music, singing, miming, improv and even the circus, per TV Line.

Julie Andrews said that the children's show has been a long dream of hers in educating the kids about "the wonders of arts," per BBC. Programming Insider cites that that the TV show for kids will have 13 episodes running at 30 minutes each. It will be available in all territories where Netflix is streamed.

Fortune reports that Julie Andrews already started filming "Julie's Greenroom" since May to hit the 2017 target launch. The dame serves as executive producer and co-creator. She collaborates with her daughter, Emma Walton Hamilton, and Judy Rothman-Rofé in mounting the Netflix series.

Fortune also cited that this is Netflix's move to compete with HBO, which has earned exclusive rights to "Sesame Street" for its content. Watch the actress talk about her new show in the video below:
