'Beetlejuice 2' News & Update: Tim Burton Wants To Do The Sequel But Nothing Is Concrete Yet; Is The Film Happening?

After almost three decades, fans of the American comedy-horror film "Beetlejuice" are still waiting for its sequel. "Beetlejuice 2" has been in talks for years, but the production is still unclear. Is "Beetlejuice 2" happening or not?

'Beetlejuice 2' Still Unconfirmed

"Beetlejuice 2" is among the anticipated sequels of all time. In fact, even after 28 years, fans are still expecting it. Unfortunately, despite the long wait, the "Beetlejuice" sequel is still unconfirmed.

"I think there is now a better chance than ever... I miss that character," director Tim Burton told IGN about "Beetlejuice 2." "There's something that's cathartic and amazing about it. I think it's closer than ever," Burton said."

Unfortunately, per NME, Burton's camp denied the reports of "Beetlejuice 2." They have no plans for the film, as Burton is still busy with "Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children," which is due later this year.

There are also reports that "Beetlejuice 2" will not be a sequel. Parent Herald reported that the upcoming "Beetlejuice" will be a reboot and it will be called "Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian." Since it is a reboot, Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder and the rest of the original cast will not be returning to reprise their roles.

Tim Burton Still Interested In 'Beetlejuice 2'

It is very difficult to tell if "Beetlejuice 2" is happening or not, but one thing is certain, Tim Burton is still interested in doing it. "This is the thing, it's something that I'm interested in," Burton said per CrossMap.

Burton also debunked the reports that Johnny Depp will be replacing Michael Keaton. The "Beetlejuice" director already said that there's only one "Beetlejuice" and it Keaton. He also stressed that he already talked to Keaton and Winona Ryder.

"I do love the character and Michael's amazing as that character, so yeah we'll see. But there's nothing concrete yet," Burton said about the"Beetlejuice 2" production.

Seth Grahame-Smith also told Entertainment Weekly that Keaton and Winona Ryder are already on board for "Beetlejuice 2." In fact, Ryder already confirmed the film.
