ABC country music drama "Nashville" was officially canceled after four seasons. This came as a surprise to most fans, as the announcement came less than two weeks before the season 4 finale of the show reports Taste of Country.

The hashtag "#BringBackNashville" immediately became a trending topic on Twitter, as many fans believed that "Nashville" deserved to be renewed for another season on TV. Fans initiated an online petition in hopes of attracting the attention of other platforms to pick up the series for Season 5.

Lionsgate TV recently confirmed that they are currently in talks with "multiple" platforms for "Nashville" Season 5, reports Entertainment Weekly. This could be taken as a good sign for fans of the country music drama, especially since the online petition has already raised over 170,000 signatures as of writing.

"Nashville" Season 5 has to definitely happen following that cliffhanger in the Season 4 finale. Lionsgate TV chairman Kevin Beggs recently explained that the cliffhanger will serve a better purpose later on.

"There's a little short-term pain but ultimately long-term gain," he said.

As fans can recall, "Nashville" Season 4 ended with Juliette (Hayden Panettiere) boarding on a plane to go back to Nashville and reunite with her family. Unfortunately, the show ended with Cadence and Avery learning that Juliette's plane was nowhere to be found; leaving fans with a big question mark: "Is Juliette still alive?"
