Xbox One Slim Release News & Update: Microsoft's New Console Leaks Ahead Of E3; It's 'Sleeker, Slimmer & Sharper'

For months, rumors have been rife that Microsoft is going to release different versions of an upgraded Xbox One console. One of these is the Xbox One Slim, which has been pegged smaller and thinner than the current Xbox one. Despite its size, it would have a sharper 4k resolution that's more powerful than the old unit. Ahead of its E3 presentation, it looks like the rumors are actually true as leaked images of the Xbox One Slim or the Xbox One S made its way on the internet. The new console is described as "sleeker, slimmer and sharper."

The leaked Xbox One Slim images were posted on the gaming community NeoGaf and it showed that the upcoming console will be 40 percent smaller than the original Xbox One. The new console is also shown with a 2TB storage space, as well as support for 4K video gaming and High Dynamic Range (HDR) feature. This means the unit can play virtual reality games flawlessly and with concise clarity and detail.

The Xbox One Slim is also pictured as a clean white unit, including its controllers. The whole color finish adds to its sleek appearance. The Xbox One S also comes with a new stand so that it can be properly placed vertically on the shelf.  Kotaku reports that the console is expected to begin shipping out in stores by August 2016. The release puts a jump ahead of the PlayStation 4 upgraded console, which Sony is reportedly also planning to come out for 4K games.

The Verge reports that while Microsoft is still keeping mum, the gaming company could reveal more about the Xbox One Slim at its E3 press conference scheduled Monday, June 13. Gamers would, of course, be interested to know how much the unit would cost and what its other specifications are. For those who won't be able to attend the E3, Microsoft will be live streaming its presentation online on its official E3 site.
