‘Narcos’ Season 2 Release Date, News & Updates: Official Release Date Announced; Will There Be Season 3?

Netflix US has released a teaser for the second season of "Narcos," which reveals the official premiere date for the hit historical drama series, as well as what major storyline is going to transpire.

The Death of Pablo Escobar

Based on the teaser trailer, Netflix is going to stream the all-new episodes of "Narcos" Season 2 on Sept. 2. The teaser is just 28 seconds, but it was able to hint what is coming in the 10-episode series. It shows the numbers 12.02.93, which pertain to the date when cocaine kingpin Pablo Escobar (Wagner Moura) died in a police shootout in his hometown. Netflix's Twitter post also warns the viewers to stay away from Wikipedia if they don't want any spoiler.

When the production of "Narcos" wrapped up last month, it was revealed that the show has filmed Escobar's death scene as close to the actual one as possible, as Parent Herald earlier learned. That part is going to be featured in the finale episode of the second season, according to reports.

Talks of Season 3

Given that the main character of "Narcos" is going to be killed off in Season 2, many fans wonder if there is going to be a third season and if there is, what it could possibly be about. Parent Herald has learned that there is still a possibility that the second season is not yet the end of the series. The show's composer, Pedro Bromfman, told iDigitalTimes that the drug cartel does not end with Escobar. He also revealed that new characters will be introduced in Season 2 and viewers would gain more understanding of how the drug system works.

Bromfman told the publication, "It just shifts places, but it keeps moving. As long as there are people buying drugs, there'll be bad guys trying to provide them and killing people and doing things. As long as they are illegal, and as long there are people interested in them, apparently there's no stopping it. Now it's in Mexico, but it did go around. It did go around for a long time." In the new season of "Narcos," expect some new territory to explore.
