'Top Gear' in Danger From Being Cancelled, Latest Episode Hits All-time Low

The newly-revamped "Top Gear" has reportedly reached an all-time low as per the ratings of the latest episode making it possibly being canceled.

As per the latest reports from Metro, the latest episode of the BBC show recorded only 2.3 million viewers, which saw a 700,000 drop from the number of viewers last week. Also, only 4.8 million tuned in to the season premiere of the latest "Top Gear" show. This is reportedly the lowest number of viewers that the show has seen since Jeremy Clarkson revived the show back in 2002.

It is expected that the number of viewers will be increasing by next week due to catch-up viewing but the numbers have been quite disappointing since the premiere of the show hosted by Evans. One of the other reasons for the decrease of viewers is the Euro 2016 football matches since it attracts the same demographics: young, male viewers.

Initially, Evans said that the new "Top Gear" will be appreciated by many but the audience appreciation figures have proven him wrong. In the first episode of the show, it had a 60/100 Appreciation Index and is marked to be of poor quality. The next two episodes were given 68, and 69 out of 100 respectively.

The latest episode of "Top Gear" featured Evans alongside co-hosts Matt LeBlanc and Sabine Schmidt. They were buying second-hand cars and raced to Venice.

"Top Gear" has also been making a lot of noise before it aired after Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May were replaced by Evans, LeBlanc, Schmidt, Riley Reid, Christ Harris, Eddie Jordan and The Stig.

Jordan shared in an interview about how the new "Top Gear" will be topping the old version, "Yes we admire what they did, there's no question about that. The previous show was brilliant. But I think this will be a surprise for you guys. When you actually see what we did in South Africa and all the other shows I've seen, we're going to be better."

BBC has not yet commented if the show will indeed be canceled.
