Is there hope left for "Rise of the Tomb Raider" PS4?

Rumors have been rife online that the highly anticipated title "Rise of the Tomb Raider" PS4 from Square Enix might not make it to the Sony console even after fans suffered a very long wait. The timed exclusivity deal the developers have with Microsoft generally left the gaming world in confusion as a huge sales dip will be realized for not releasing the Lara Croft game on the more popular PS4.

Many are still hoping for an update, but Square Enix has yet to disclose its plans about the "Rise of the Tomb Raider" PS4 release.

However, iTech Post recently noted that Crystal Dynamics' studio head, Darrell Gallagher, claimed that a Holiday 2016 launch could still be very likely. While no other details were offered, the very late release could still disappoint gamers as the Xbox One version was released more than a year ago before its rumored "Rise of the Tomb Raider" PS4 launch.

According to latest reports, analysts are wary of it its impending release on the PS4. If sources are right, experts fear that "Rise of the Tomb Raider" PS4 will not make a huge impact when it is released, because of the long wait fans had to endure.

"The timed exclusive probably cost only $20 million or so," Wedbush Securities' Michael Pachter said, as reported by Gamasutra. "But you probably saw [Rise of the Tomb Raider] advertising throughout the holidays. My guess is that Microsoft spent another $20 million advertising the game."

"The problem with exclusives in today's market is you have a clear market leader," founder and CEO of research firm DFC Intelligence David Cole said.

"So if you are not on that platform, you lose a major market opportunity and it would take a lot for Microsoft or another competitor to reimburse you for lost opportunities."
