'The Purge: Election Year' May Be The Last Of James De Monaco's The Purge Films; Promises More Blood With A Political Theme

In "The Purge: Election Year", Frank Grillo is back and is ready to lay down his life to protect an opposition leader bent on ending the yearly 12 hour killings in their town. "The Purge: Election Year" however, boils down to a limited number of choices directed to the poor and defenseless.

The sequel to Anarchy, "The Purge 3: Election Year" gives viewers a throwback into Senator Charlene Roan's own horrific experience during Purge Night fifteen years ago. That night when Roan and her family was elected to play Mommy's Choice (with her coming out as the sole survivor), she has then taken steps to her political ascent and campaign against finally ending The Purge, according to MTV News.

"The Purge: Election Year" is slated to expand viewers' grasp on what Purge Night meant for the economy, and not just for the needy. However, it continuously features the unfair advantage the wealthy have over their poor neighbors.

As Senator Roan puts it: "The Purge targets the poor and the innocent", and her enemies aren't backing down on silencing her so the tradition continues. Although there's noticeable fear in her voice as she says those words, her well-played optimism outweighs her fear.

This could be director James DeMonaco's last installment for The Purge films as another one might be unwelcomed, ScreenCrush reported. "The Purge: Election Year" is being identified as another Saw film, with all its gore and bloody, outrageous shots.

The relative subtlety of "The Purge: Election Year" has an unseen connection between the latest DeMonaco sequel and an election year in real life. Somewhat similar to the only woman candidate to go against strong male counterparts, Senator Roan feels that her role as an advocate for change (that is, ending The Purge) may seem impossible to do because of her enemies wanting to put her down themselves. However, even the impossible is still possible.
