Don't Rely On Dr. Google

Information is more readily available today than ever before in history. This can be a great thing when that information is used judiciously, but unfortunately the temptation to run to Google first is too strong. We're all guilty of googling our symptoms before seeing a doctor at one time or another, but it's important to remember just because you have a headache doesn't mean you have a brain tumor.

It's even more tempting to google your child's symptoms before taking him to a doctor. Those doctor visits add up quickly and anything you can do to avoid yet another unnecessary visit to the doctor can be tempting.It's important to call your child's doctor if you are unsure about whether to take your child in rather than relying on Dr. Google to make that call.

There's a growing problem with "Cyberchondria" with the growing prevalence of asking Dr. Google. People will worry over imagined illness or exaggerated real symptoms, often working themselves into a frenzy before eventually deciding to see a doctor. This can be even worse when you are a parent googling your child's symptoms- it  can turn downright terrifying.
