Teen Boy Killed Accidentally By Dad While Practicing In A Shooting Lane With His Three Children

It's hard for parents to send their child to the grave. It's even harder, and rare for them to be the cause of their child's death. A dad lost his teen son after he accidentally shot him at a Florida gun range in front of his other children.

Stephen Brumby, 14, was practicing with his dad William Brumby, 64 at High Noon Gun Range. According to the statement from Sarasota County Sheriff's Office, as reported by CBS News, the shell casing of the dad's gun deflected and fell into the back of his shirt. He tried to remove the casing, using the hand holding his gun which he unintentionally pointed behind him and accidentally fired.

As per NBC News, the dad's gunshot that hit the teen boy in his left jugular vein found at the neck. He was then rushed to Sarasota Memorial Hospital after the accident. A little bit after 3 in the afternoon, the teen boy died.

On that day, dad William Brumby was also with his two other children, a 24-year-old son and a 12-year-old daughter. They were thankfully uninjured but unfortunate to witness their teen brother fall lifeless from the gunshot.

The shooting was caught on video and seen by passersby. Through evidence, the Sarasota Country Sheriff's Office concluded that what happened was an accident.

Daily Mail reported that the mother of the teen  boy took to social media her grief. She posted a picture of her teen son  with the caption, "There are no words." A GoFundMe page was also started by the family to cover expenses.

The GoFundMe page has raised over $16,000 as of posting. It describes Stephen as a teen boy who loves sports and music, and is passionate about learning new things and worshipping Jesus Christ.

Do you think the death of the teen boy is merely an accident or should the father be partly blamed for what happened? Sound off your thoughts in the Comments section below and follow Parent Herald for more news and updates.
