‘Saw 8: Legacy’ Release Date, Latest News & Updates: Sequel Finally Happening? 2017 Release Possible As Filming Begins This September

Good news, "Saw" fans! The long-awaited sequel known as "Saw 8: Legacy" is about to take off the ground soon, with reports hinting the beginning of production this September. The latest "Saw 8" update came months after Lionsgate Television Group reportedly appointed new writers to make a screenplay for the upcoming sequel.

In past six years since the last "Saw" installment was released in 2010, there have already been speculations for a "Saw 8: Legacy" possibility. However, those rumors were immediate debunked. But now, it seemed that the highly anticipated sequel is finally happening.

'Saw 8: Legacy' Production And Filming Date

Ever since Lionsgate released the low-budgeted psychological horror film, "Saw," in 2004, it had managed to earn a great deal of profit, a strong box office standing and a solid fanbase, which eventually lead to the film's equally successful sequels. According to Screen Rant, the "Saw" franchise also paved the way for Hollywood careers of director James Wan and actor-writer Leigh Whannell.

Speaking of the "Saw" films, "Saw 8: Legacy" will reportedly begin filming on Sept. 12. Based on the production listing on IATSE873 (via Bloody Disgusting), a Vancouver film industry union website, the filming of "Saw 8: Legacy" will start September and will conclude on Oct. 21 in Toronto.

Moreover, the listing also revealed that the "Saw 8: Legacy" producers will be Dan Heffner and Oren Kroules, who have also produced the previous "Saw" movies. Parent Herald, on the other hand, has previously reported that "Piranha 3D" and "Sorority Row" screenwriters Josh Stolberg and Pete Goldfinger will be writing the sequel's screenplay.

'Saw 8: Legacy" Cast And Release Date

As of the writing, no cast members and director have been named for "Saw 8: Legacy." As for its release date, Lionsgate has yet to announce an official release date but rumors have it the company is aiming for an October 2017 release, Den of Geek reveals.

Two years ago, Oren Kroules hinted that "Saw 8: Legacy" was in the works. But as per Movie Web, Kroules also predicted that the much-anticipated sequel wouldn't be officially unveiled until Comic Con 2016. Even though Lionsgate has yet to confirm the reports, "Saw 8: Legacy" fans are still excited as the sequel might be revealed at the 2016 San Diego Comic-Con, which will happen in a couple of weeks.
