'Crazy Ex-Girlfriend' Season 2 Air Date, News & Update: Friday Move, Netflix Reruns & Cast Bumps - What To Know So Far

The CW's "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend," created and starred by Rachel Bloom as Rebecca Bunch, premiered last season to average ratings. However, the show didn't escape critics who embraced its uniqueness.

From its tongue-in-cheek treatment, to its original music and its take on mental health, the show earned a bright spot among select viewers despite struggling to find an audience. Fortunately for "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend," the network decided to renew it for a well-deserved second season and it's getting on with a few changes when it returns.

'Crazy Ex-Girlfriend' Season 2: Friday Move In Time Schedule

From its Monday timeslot, "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" will return to The CW on Fridays at 9 p.m. beginning Oct. 21. According to the Los Angeles Times, the move might be able to help the show find a bigger audience with the help of "The Vampire Diaries" serving as its lead-in.

But the move might also eventually end the series. Friday timeslots are technically death slots for TV shows, when it's perceived that not a lot of people watch TV on a weekend night. It's also when network bosses schedule low-raters to eventually cancel the series. It remains to be seen whether this will be good or bad for "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend."

'Crazy Ex-Girlfriend': Netflix Boost

However, "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" is getting some much-needed boost from a different set of audience this July as the show has finally arrived on Netflix. Critics have long suggested viewers watch the series, which has actually won for Best Actress - Comedy at the Golden Globes and Critics Choice Awards early this year. Now that it can be streamed, viewers can catch up this summer on what the show is about.

'Crazy Ex-Girlfriend': What Is It Really About?

"Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" features a twenty-something woman, Rebecca, who decides to leave her cushy job in New York to live in West Covina, California after learning her ex-boyfriend, Josh, is there. She makes friends with her co-workers and also tries to date another guy, but her heart is still set on winning Josh, who already has a girlfriend.

In between the scenes, Rebecca breaks into songs to express her feelings. It's the songs that what make this series so uniquely entertaining, such as this video below.

"Within the first two minutes you'll understand the title is a deconstruction -- the show is meant to be a deconstruction of tropes and stereotypes," said Rachel Bloom via Entertainment Weekly. The series also stars Vincent Rodriquez III, Donna Lynne Champlin, Santino Fontana, Pete Gardner and Gabrielle Ruiz.

Ruiz, who plays Josh's ex-girlfriend who isn't fond of Rebecca, has been bumped to series regular for "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" Season 2. This can only mean there will be more friction between the girls next season and that is something to look forward to!
