Samsung Galaxy S6 vs HTC One M9: Specs, Price & Release Date

As expected, Samsung has released the Galaxy S6 and the Edge at MWC, states PC Pro. Meanwhile, the HTC One M9 was also unveiled at the event, reports International Business Times. 

Tech 2 reports and compares the two newly announced flagship phones. 

Screen Size: 

The S6 has a 5.1-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display with 2560 x 1440 resolution. The S6 Edge has the same screen with the addition of dual-display edges. The M9, on the other hand, has a 5-inch full HD display with only 1920 x 1080 resolution. Both flagship phones are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4. 

Camera: 

The M9 has an Ultrapixel front-facing camera which comes with BSI sensor. Meanwhile, the rear camera is 20 MP with a sapphire lens. It can also shoot movies in 4K resolution. 

On the other hand, the rear camera of the S6 and S6 Edge is 16 MP. While, the front-facing camera is only 5 MP for both phones. 

Processor, Storage, RAM:

The HTC One M9 runs on a 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor. It comes with 3GB of RAM. The internal storage of the phone is 32GB, but can be expanded using a micro SD card. 

While, the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge runs one the Exynos 7 octa-core processor, which has two quad-core processors clocked at 2.1 GHz and 1.5 GHz. Both phones have 3GB of RAM.  

The two new Samsung phones do not have micro SD slots, unfortunately. They will be available in 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB storage 

Tech Times reports on where the HTC One M9 and the Samsung Galaxy S6/Edge can be bought. The site also suggests prices for the phone and their release dates.   

All three flagship phones will be available at the following carriers: AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile. 

The Galaxy S6 will also be available in U.S. Cellular, Boost Mobile, Cricket, and Metro PCS. The S6 Edge, on the other hand, will only be additionally available with U.S. Cellular. 

Amazon, Best Buy, Costco, and Target will have all three phone in stock. Although, Best Buy Mobile will only have the HTC One M9. In addition to the stores mentioned previously, Sam's Club and Walmart will also have the S6 and the S6 Edge in stock.  

Customers buying any of the three phones will have to sign a two-year contract. The M9 will probably cost $199. The S6 will start at the same price for the 32GB version. Meanwhile, the Edge's 32GB version will start at $299. Prices for the Samsung phones will differ as the storage gets higher. 

The M9 is expected to arrive in 'early spring,' before the end of March. While the S6 and the Edge projected release date is April 10.
