'The Winds of Winter' Release Date, News & Update: Sixth Book Delayed Due To Seventh Book; 'TWOW' And 'A Dream of Spring' Will Be Released Together At The Worldcon?

It has been over half a decade since the last book of "A Song of Ice and Fire" was released. The "ASOIAF" readers have been waiting for the sixth book, "The Winds of Winter" for five years and counting. However, the waiting might not take another year and you'll be in for a huge surprise. According to reports, "The Winds of Winter" and "A Dream of Spring," the seventh book will be released together and they are arriving soon.

'The Winds of Winter' Delayed Due To 'A Dream of Spring?'

Everyone will surely agree that "The Winds of Winter" is long overdue. What took George RR Martin so long to finish the sixth book of "A Song of Ice and Fire?" Well, according to rumors, the delay was due to Martin working the sixth and seventh book, "A Dream of Spring" altogether.

This report springs from a Reddit discussion where one reader suggests that "The Winds of Winter" is delayed because it will be released alongside with "A Dream of Spring." "What if it's taking so long because he wrote both and is pulling our legs?" one Reddit user commented.

Meanwhile, according to Christian Times, another possible reason for the delay of "The Winds of Winter" is the changes in the plot. Parent Herald also reported that George RR Martin suffered from writer's block, which hinders his creativity and productivity in finishing "The Winds of Winter."

George RR Martin To Launch 'The Winds of Winter's' at Worldcon

The "The Winds of Winter" author already announced that he will be attending Worldcon. In fact, Parent Herald reported that he might be reading the Cersei chapter of "The Winds of Winter" in the said event.

Apart from this, MNR reported that "The Winds of Winter" might be launched at the Worldcon. It can be remembered that George RR Martin invited the "ASOIAF" readers to be there because it is the best place to bond with their favorite author.

Although we would love to see "The Winds of Winter" and "A Dream of Spring" together and hopefully at the Worldcon, fans should still take these reports with a grain of salt. Please take note that George RR Martin has never announced an official release date for "The Winds of Winter."
