'Kingdom Hearts 3' Release Date, News & Update: Square Enix Reveals Timeline; Will Add Marvel And Star Wars World?

There is no doubt that many are waiting for the arrival of "Kingdom Hearts 3." Unfortunately, while most want "KH3," Square Enix is gearing for "Kingdom Hearts 2.8 HD Final Chapter Prologue," which causes the delay of "KH3." To give you a refresher here's the timeline of "Kingdom Hearts 3."

'Kingdom Hearts 3' Timeline

According to VG24/7, Square Enix first announced "Kingdom Hearts 3" on June 2013 at Sony's E3 Press Conference. Unfortunately, it has been three years and the title is not yet done.

Per the report, the title lag behind when Square Enix opted to develop Final Fantasy 15. "Kingdom Hearts" is one of the most successful franchises from Square Enix but "Final Fantasy" is another and the latter is way more popular and in demand.

In fact, in last week's Famitsu list "Final Fantasy 15" and "Persona 5" tops the list while "Kingdom Hearts 3," didn't even make it in the top 5, Gaming Bolt reported. You can blame it on Square Enix's mismanagement of "KH3" or accept that the other games are more popular and wanted. Thus, it is just wise for Square Enix to prioritize "Final Fantasy 15" over "Kingdom Hearts 3."

After "Final Fantasy 15," Square Enix decided to develop "Kingdom Hearts 2.8 HD Final Chapter Prologue," which further delayed "Kingdom Hearts 3." The anticipated title is now expected to arrive in 2017.

Square Enix To Add Marvel And 'Star Wars' In 'Kingdom Hearts 3'

On a side note, for those wishing to see Marvel and "Star Wars" in "Kingdom Hearts 3," chances are you will see it in the gameplay. Yibada reported that Square Enix is likely to add these worlds in the upcoming title.

Per the report, "Kingdom Hearts 3" co-director Tai Yasue teases that they might add the two worlds in the next "Kingdom Hearts" title. However, Square Enix hasn't confirmed this yet.
