'The Vampire Diaries' Season 8 Will Culminate The Series

There have been reports suggesting that Nina Dobrev will return in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8. Prior to this, Julie Plec teased that she will have Dobrev return for the final season.

For a long time, people remain hopeful that "The Vampire Diaries" will continue after season 8. In fact, Parent Herald reported that the production brings Nina Dobrev back because the Elena-Damon (Ian Somerhalder) love fest can save the series from cancellation. Unfortunately, it is confirmed that Dobrev's return is to culminate the series.

Entertainment Online reported that "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 will be the last in the series. No more, no less. "TVD" fans should now learn to let go of the Elena-Damon reunion because they will soon be leaving the small screens for good.

"It's so rare for a show to get to last this long, and what a privilege that Mark Pedowitz and Peter Roth have allowed us to choose the time to end the journey on our own creative terms," Plec told the publication. "It's been eight of the best years of my life. I will miss it terribly, but I'm so proud to be here to see it to its proper end."

Nina Dobrev's Return In 'The Vampire Diaries' Season 8 Imminent

Most "TVD" fans are hoping to see the original protagonist of "The Vampire Diaries" in its last season. TV Line reported that seeing Elena in the flesh in the final season is possible.

"Nina has always said that if there's something for her to do in the series finale that she will be there to do it," Plec told Entertainment Weekly. "When she left, she said, 'I want to see this character to its end at the end of the show, so I can't wait to come back and put her to bed again.'"
