Thirty Years Gone: Mother Stills Looks For Her Children Abducted By Husband

A mother's love to her children is one of love's greatest forms. No amount of time or distance can stop a mother's heart beating for her children. Case in point is this mother, that even after thirty years of separation, is not giving up hope that she'll see her children again someday.

Ruth Parker last saw her sons, Charles Jason and William, then three and two years old, on October 9,1986. Their father, Charlie Vosseler, was their own abductor who took the children somewhere and never came back. Thirty years after, their whereabouts are still unknown to the longing mother (via Daily Mail).

Daily Mail shares the story of how Parker and Vosseler met before the former became impregnated with their two children. Parker saw Vosseler in a Mother Earth News magazine. They then wrote letters, called each other and took trips together before eventually marrying.

Today, parent abductions are the most common form of child kidnapping. The number of incidences has been increasing because divorces and custody problems between mother and father have been rising as well. It has been known as early as the nineteenth century but not as problematic and as many as parent abductions are today in the U.S. (via Origins).

Unfortunately for Parker, it was the eighties when Vosseler took off with their children and never came back. The Roschester police did not worry when she told them that her children were with their father.

The mother had to wait for seven months before a federal warrant for Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution was issued for her husband. Although this is a success in itself during that time, the children is still lost up to today and whoever brings them back will receive a $25,000 reward (via Daily Mail).

For children abducted by their parents, AMBER Alert is the emergency response the left-behind parent can connect with for help in case an abduction occurs. According to Parent Herald, AMBER stands for America's Missing Broadcast Emergency Response and started in 1996.
