Apple’s iPad Pro 2 Release Date, News & Update: Newly-Leaked Images Surface; Tablet To Have A More Powerful Processor?

Newly leaked images of Apple's alleged iPad Pro 2 have surfaced online recently. The pair of photos was supposedly taken by a worker at an Apple Chinese supplier of the tech giant's new tablet.

Freshly-Leaked Images Of The iPad Pro 2

Blog site AppleInsider published the two photos, which showcased the alleged iPad Pro 2's settings screen in Chinese. The device bears the model number MH1C2CD/F, a designation that wasn't assigned to previous or current iPad models, though it conforms with Apple's usual numbering scheme to the existing 12.9-inch iPad Pro (ML0G2LL/A - ML3N2LL/A).

Aside from the settings screen, the alleged iPad Pro 2 comes with 12GB of internal storage. This suggests that the tablet is "a pre-production or prototype device" and that memory capacity is "just enough for loading an operating system and apps for internal testing and hardware debugging," AppleInsider further reported.

The device also has the latest beta of iOS 10. That latest version of Apple's operating system was released to developers earlier this month, containing unencrypted 32-bit bootloaders, RAM disks, and kernel caches.

Release Date & More Rumors About The iPad Pro 2

Few rumors have been leaked about the iPad Pro 2. The tablet, however, is expected to have a more powerful processor and the True Tone Display technology already seen in the 9.7-inch iPad Pro released in March 2016. The True Tone Display allows the iPad Pro to adjust its color temperature in accordance with its surroundings, CNET reported.

Apple's 12.9-inch iPad Pro was released in November 2015, so it makes sense that the tablet's successor will be launched in that same timetable this year -- that is if the iPad Pro 2 is really in the Cupertino-based company's cards. Production for the iPad Pro 2 is expected to begin in September.

PC Advisor speculated that the 12.9-inch iPad Pro 2 will have the same price range as its predecessor. They are as follows: £679 ($799) for the 32GB variant, £799 ($949) for the 128GB version, and £919 ($1099) for the 256GB model. Those prices will likely increase if you want a tablet with Wi-Fi + Cellular feature.

Keep in mind that these are all rumors and speculations for now. Apple is yet to make an official announcement regarding their products.

On the other hand, iPad sales have reportedly been plummeting for almost three years, Business Insider reported. Apple announced it only has 10.2 million iPad sales this past quarter, a drop from the previous quarter's 12.62 million iPads sold.
