Parents, Check Out The Best Cars For Your Teenager According To U.S. News & World Report

Teenagers are not the best in driving cars when it comes to safety, which may lead to parents worrying over their children. To help, U.S. News & World Report has compiled a list of the best cars for teenagers which promise to ensure maximum safety behind the wheel.

"We wanted cars that would keep teens safe in an accident, but more importantly, prevent accidents from happening," U.S. News Best Cars managing editor Jamie Page Deaton told Business Insider in an interview. Deaton added that parents have the responsibility of determining whether the teenaged children are ready to start driving cars.

Top Cars For Teenage Drivers

U.S. News & World Report named the Chevrolet Sonic as the best car for teenagers among those priced under $20,000. They said that while most subcompact cars are cheap but lack safety features to help teenagers avoid accidents, the Sonic comes with forward collision warning and lane departure warning and an optional rearview camera.

If your budget ranges from $20,000 to $25,000, they recommend the Kia Soul with its UVO eServices. According to the site, this can be synced to the parents' smartphone and alert them when "when the Soul is driven outside a predetermined geographic area, exceeds a preset speed, or is driven after a certain time of night."

Parents Should Consider Newer Car Models For Teens

The Mazda 3, with its host of driver-assistance features earned the nod as the best teen Car for a budget of $25,000 to $30,000. The Hyundai Sonata and the Chevy Malibu are tied for the price range of $30,000 to $35,000. While The Ford Fusion Hybrid is the best for price ranges of $35,000 to $40,000 while the Nissan Murano was chosen as the best car for teenagers for a budget of more than $40,000.

"Although it's expensive, parents should consider investing in newer models because they have many more safety features than cars made just five years ago," said Page Deaton in a statement, as quoted by Boston.com. Page Deaton added that buying the latest car model one can afford can keep one's family members safe.
