Parents Got 7-Year-Old Faith Lennox a $50 3D-Printed Prosthetic Hand & She Loves It!

Losing a hand is a tragic experience that no one deserves to experience. 7-year old Faith Lennox is no exception.

The Daily Mail UK reported that the little girl from California lost her left hand when she was 9 months old. Lennox had her forearm and left hand amputated when she was an infant, according to Los Angeles Times. Faith had compartment syndrome when she was born. This disorder dispensed off the blood flow from her left forearm. After months of trying to save her forearm to no avail, medical specialists determined it was best to amputate it.

Lennox has gotten used to living with only one hand since then. But, things in her life recently changed that she would not have expected at all. Build It Workspace has manufactured affordable prosthetic hands that any child can easily use. Lennox and her parents did not miss the chance of getting one of these hands on Tuesday in Los Alamitos. The 3-D printer has completed its construction and design of arm and hand that day.

Lennox cheerfully moved her pink and blue colored prosthetic fingers after getting the 3-D prosthetic hand. The 7-year old used her now left hand to hold her "Finding Nemo" stuffed fish animal.

Lennox happily beamed as she marveled at the new hand she's got, saying, "It's really cool."

The girl specifically wanted to get a prosthetic hand in pink, blue and purple colors. These colors match the colors of her favorite wardrobe. Build It Workspace is based in an Orange County suburb in southern California. The company is the leader in producing state-of-the art projects from 3-D printers and commercial print-outs.

Faith was out of school the other day early to drop by Build It Workspace's center to buy her $50 3-D prosthetic hand. Airwolf 3D was the name behind one of the printers that designed and manufactured Faith's left hand.

When her left hand will need replacement after 6 months to a year, Faith can easily avail of the replacement affordably and quickly, as reported in Yahoo! Tech. Mark Muller, a California State University prosthetics professor in Dominguez Hills, announced this good news. Muller contributed works in designing Faith's left had for Airwolf 3-D. Muller said that a regular pair of prosthetic hands for adults with sensors normally would not cost as cheap. The professor revealed that such prosthetic hands cost around $15,000-$20,000.

Faith was lucky to have had the privilege to get this useful and adorable 3-D prosthetic hand, without spending a fortune!
