Zayn Malik Opens Up: Reveals Things About Gigi Hadid, One Direction and Anxiety

Zayn Malik opens up and talks about everything that made him what he is today.

The first topic that he touched was "One Direction." This is where he became the star he is today. The band was the launch pad of his career and it definitely launched him high. In March 2015, he announced that he was leaving the X Factor-formed group. He wanted to pursue his solo career. One Direction has not officially disbanded then. Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson remained together as a quartet.

Zayn recalls that at that point in life he had done his best in all aspects and that he really wanted to do things differently. That is the reason why he decided to pursue his solo career. On Zayn Malik's part, he did not feel brave enough to take this step. It was a tough decision that he took, reported E! Online.

The toughest decision that the artist took was to leave the band and to try and establish himself as a solo performer. Leaving the band changed a lot of things for Zayn. The artist is still trying to take in all the changes that has happened ever since. Zayn says that after taking this big step he discovered much more things about himself. Zayn says that the biggest revelation was the depth of passion that he discovered towards music, reported People.

"The album is a build up of six years and never being able to express what I wanted to say," he explains. "I had something to get off my chest."

Zayn's wardrobe is often talked about too. Along with music, he uses his wardrobe to express himself without being self-conscious. He recalls that since he left "One Direction" he has been creative with what he wears since he had the freedom to choose what he has to wear. He feels that things have turned out to be more interesting in terms of freehand choice on his wardrobe ever since. "I can say I want to wear metal arms and it'll happen," the singer said.

The singer found it so much more challenging to express himself onstage. Malik had to cancel his set at London's Capital Summertime Ball in June due to anxiety issues. At the time, he tweeted, "Unfortunately, my anxiety that has haunted me throughout the last few months around live performances has gotten the better of me...with the magnitude of the event, I have suffered the worst anxiety of my career."

After this incident, his girlfriend was all praises for him on Twitter. She praised the brave step that he took. Malik never wanted to talk about the incident. But at that time he felt that he owed his fans an expanation.

Malik got really candid when he talked about social media. He feels that networking is a big thing today but somehow it affects art forms. Given the choice he will take the camera off everyone's iPhone and make sure no one had Twitter or Facebook. Malik argues that the effect of social networking takes away the opportunity to just live in the moment. Zayn Malik would love to limit his phone to calls only.

Zayn Malik looks up to Hadid and gushes over her. "She's super intelligent; I think that's why it works so well," he told. "And we do the same type of job so we get that with each other." His owes his sanity to his girlfriend, his mother and his three sisters.

"I enjoyed the womanly influence. I have a lot of respect for women because of them. They are so strong, powerful and do everything themselves," Zayn says of being raised in a female-dominated household. The British pop star said that when he goes back to Bradford they treat him exactly the same. He admits that he goes only for a few days else the family would make him take out the bins.
