‘Days of Our Lives’ Cast & Spoilers: Sonny To Love Again After Will’s Death? Freddie Smith Talks About His Return to Days

Freddie Smith is back on "Days of Our Lives," and Sonny Kiriakis home coming puts the gay storyline back in the daytime soap. Will he give love another shot following the death of his husband, Will Horton.

Is Sonny Ready To Love Again

Last fall in "Days of Our Lives," Sonny Kiriakis lost his husband. He went to Paris and busied himself running a club for his Uncle Vic (John Aniston). And now that he's back to Salem, is it possible that he has already healed and may be ready to fall in love again? According to Daytime Confidential, Paul Narita (Christopher Sean), has been in Salem, and being Sonny's first love, there is that possibility that the two may rekindle what they used to feel for each other.

"Days of Our Lives" star Freddie Smith shared with Out Magazine that the two remain as great friends. He added, "you always have a piece of your heart with your first love. I definitely think there's always going to be chemistry and a blossoming friendship. Who knows? Who knows what will happen?"

But although the idea of them getting back together is not dismissed, the "Days of Our Lives" star clarified that Sonny is not yet ready to let someone in, in a romantic way. He lost a big part of him when Will died and that's going to take a while to deal with. In addition, because of the love triangle mess they had before Will's death, Sonny and Paul are still in the process of healing their friendship and their trust. "Days of Our Lives" actor Christopher Sean is hopeful, though, as he told Out, "It's always hard to not think about your first true love and when you finally understand love, as Paul does, I think he's hoping for it."

Why Sonny Came Back To Salem

Meanwhile, the magazine said that the real reason for Sonny's return is because of the growing drama in the Kiriakis family. He's stepping in and pay back for all his Uncle Vic has done for him. Freddie Smith first appeared at the end of July 26 episode, and he promised that he's going to be around "Days of Our Lives" for a while.

"Days of Our Lives" airs every weekday on NBC at 1 p.m.
