'The Winds of Winter' Release Date & Major Spoilers: Upcoming Book To Include Fewer Deaths Than 'GoT' Season 6

Despite the continuous delay, the fans of "A Song of Ice and Fire" are still hopeful for the arrival of the series' sixth book. According to reports, it is unlikely for "The Winds of Winter" to arrive this year. However, to appease fans, according to "TWOW" spoilers, there will be lesser deaths in "The Winds of Winter" compared to "Game of Thrones" Season 6.

'The Winds of Winter' To Feature Fewer Deaths That 'GoT' Season 6

For those following the "ASOIAF" series, many were reluctant to watch "Game of Thrones" Season 6 due to potential spoilers. Initially, George RR Martin aimed to release "The Winds of Winter" prior to "GoT" Season 6 but failed to do so.

The "GoT" producers assured the "The Winds of Winter" fans that the book and the TV adaptation will have different plots and it looks like they're telling the truth. Per  iDigital Times, the anticipated book, "The Winds of Winter" will have fewer deaths than HBO's, "Game of Thrones" Season 6.

Per Independent, "GoT" Season 6 included the shocking deaths of Ned Stark, Hodor, Ramsay Bolton and the Waif. Aside from them, the "GoT" finale also killed the High Sparrow, Margaery Tyrell and Tommen Baratheon.

In an earlier interview, George RR Martin said that the "GoT" showrunners are more blood- thirsty than he is, and it looks to be the case. Parent Herald previously reported that Shireen, Myrcella, Stannis who are dead in "GoT" are still alive in "The Winds of Winter."

"In the books... yes, Stannis is still alive," Martin confirmed. "So are Irri, Jhiqui, Mago, Pyp, Grenn, Shireen, Myrcella, Ser Barristan, Hizdahr zo Loraq, and probably some others whose names I am forgetting at this moment."

3 Major Deaths In 'The Winds of Winter'

Although "The Winds of Winter" will have fewer deaths, some characters are still doomed in the book. In a separate report from Parent Herald, there will be at least three major deaths in "TWOW." George RR Martin confirmed this himself

"I just killed three of your favorite characters," Martin told John Oliver per Australian Network. We can't say who Martin axed in the book but this is something that fans are dreading to find out when they get a hold of "The Winds of Winter."
