Georges St. Pierre vs Tyrone Woodley; GSP Talks UFC Return, Woodley Superfight Highly Possible

In the aftermath of UFC 201 in the Philips Arena in Georgia, Tyrone Woodley knocked out Robbie Lawler for the undisputed UFC welterweight belt in the main event. "The Chosen One" then went on to call out former UFC champion Georges St. Pierre and welterweight contender Nick Diaz in the post fight interview.

This has caught the attention of arguably the best welterweight that has ever graced the UFC Octagon. GSP was recently contacted by MMAfighting.com, and was asked whether he would be interested in fighting the newly crowned welterweight champion, St. Pierre responded via text message, saying only "Yes".

Georges St. Pierre, who is now 35 years old, has not fought for the UFC since November of 2013 in UFC 167. After retaining his welterweight belt against Johnny "Big Rig" Hendricks in a controversial unanimous decision, he shortly made the announcement that he would be retiring from mixed martial arts and vacate his title.

In a recent phone interview with The MMA Hour, however, GSP has stated that he is looking forward to getting back in the cage. "I love my sport and I still feel I'm at my best right now. The clock is running. I'm not getting any younger," Georges St. Pierre said. "I'm in the peak of my career and if there is a shot, there is another goal, another run, I better do it and do it quick."

St. Pierre also mentioned in the interview that he has undergone a training camp to see whether he's still in the same condition as he was when he made his legendary run in the UFC. "I've been training, but being in shape and being in fighting shape is something different. I did a training to push myself and go back to the highest level of competition." says "GSP".

The UFC still hasn't confirmed St. Pierre's return, and they also do not have an opponent for Tyrone Woodley's first title defence. The Woodley- St. Pierre bout for the welterweight belt could easily be one of the biggest main events in the promotion's history, if the UFC decides to make it happen.

The next upcoming UFC event, UFC 202, will have the rematch between "The Notorious" Connor McGregor and Nate Diaz on August 20, 2016
