Sega Is Back: Showing Improvement On Sales, Will Release Mini And Handheld Version Of Sega Genesis

Sega almost diminished from the past decade due to a massive competition against other companies. Today Sega seems to be rising up again showing an impressive sales improvement. The record shows from the past three months, Sega increased their sales compared to what they have from last year's same period.

For this year's second quarter, Sega gained a remarkable $692 million, increasing almost 34 percent of their profit last year which is around $520 million according to Gamespot.

Sega fails to fight back against Big Three Companies on the gaming market (Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft). Though Sega stopped the production of Sega Dreamcast back in 2001, Sega still continue their battle by making games and released each game through the competitor's gaming hardware.

Sega launch a couple of popular games, the most popular of all is the Phantasy Star Online. Phantasy Star Online gained its fans when it was released on the PSP due its inviting gameplay. Persona series also climbed up the ladder of popularity on its genre. Total War: Warhammer also set the records for SEGA's profit, have over 20 million copies being sold for the past 17 years.

Having locked up in a very limited market and a huge competition on the next generation gaming console, Sega expects a small progress and it is targeting Asia. They seem to have a plan releasing games on the PC platform to enter a much larger market, internationally.

As of today, Sega is focusing on their upcoming Mini Mega Drive and Portable Genesis, which is set to release this October at the same time. They are hoping to gain a good market in the UK since they are planning to release in the UK in October as well. These two upcoming console will be competing against Nintendo Mini Nes and the new consoles have a built-in 80 games each.
