'Princess Diaries 3' Latest News: Anne Hathaway, Heather Matarazzo & Mandy Moore Reflect On Movie's 15th Anniversary

It's been 15 years since "Princess Diaries" ran at the movies. As a way to commemorate this milestone, stars Anne Hathaway, Heather Matarazzo and Mandy Moore shared their thoughts and reflections about the film. Fans have also been eagerly waiting for news on "Princess Diaries 3," but will it ever happen?

On Instagram, Anne Hathaway shared a clip of herself dancing as the nerdy Mia on "Princess Diaries." She included a message to thank the fans of the Disney movie. "It's been 15 years (say it with me) SHUT UP!!!!!" Anne Hathaway stated.

She also acknowledged "Princess Diaries" director Garry Marshall and said that she misses him every day. Marshall died on July 19 at 81 years old, per Parent Herald.

Anne Hathaway's co-star Heather Matarazzo did an interview with Cosmopolitan, where she fondly talked about "Princess Diaries." She said that the director "literally threw parades" on the set, which made such an impression on the young actress at that time.

She also noted that the popularity of "Princess Diaries" still surprises her even to this day. "It's a testament to Garry's talent. It's a testament to Annie's talent, and Julie's, and mine, and the whole entire package," said Matarazzo.

Mandy Moore was also part of the first "Princess Diaries" and played the queen bee at Mia's high school, who was mean to Anne Hathaway's character. She also has fond memories of working on the set, especially with Garry Marshall.

"He was like everyone's grandpa -- he had so much patience and was hilarious and made everybody laugh," Moore told In Style. This was the singer-actress' very first movie and she said that working with the rest of the cast felt like summer camp. She described the whole experience of being in "Princess Diaries" as "remarkable."

Meanwhile, before Garry Marshall's death, plans to bring "Princess Diaries 3" to the big screen started rolling. The director even got Anne Hathaway and Julie Andrews on board to reprise their roles. But the decision to get the film done actually lies with Disney, which owns the franchise. Talks were left hanging when Marshall passed.

Disney has not yet announced whether it will approve the production of "Princess Diaries 3." A new version is indeed ripe for the taking, especially when there can be more stories to tell about Princess Mia, now that Anne Hathaway has grown up herself and has become a mother in real life. Stay tuned for updates!
