NBA Rumors: Knicks To Poach Stephen Curry From The GSW? Spurs Also Pursuing The Warriors Superstar?

The Golden State Warriors has an impressive team to compete at the 2017 NBA championship, especially now that they have Kevin Durant in their club alongside superstar Stephen Curry. Despite this huge potential of the Warriors to win the title, there are rumors that Curry will become a free agent if the team fails to defeat the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Curry in free agency is possible if his dynamic with Durant fails against the defending champion, The Inquisitr reported. Bleacher Report previously claimed that two teams are vying for Curry if he leaves the Warriors, and those are the New York Knicks and the San Antonio Spurs.

According to The Inquisitr, the Spurs could swoop in and sign Curry now that he's poised to share the Warriors' superstar space with Durant. The 28-year-old sharpshooter and back-to-back MVP has become so valuable to the Warriors in the past two seasons, but Durant could shake that up and steal Curry's spotlight.

Sportsrageous wrote that the Spurs is looking for a replacement for their "Big Three." Tim Duncan retired in July, while there are rumors that Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker would leave the NBA after the 2016-17 season.

Though Kawhi Leonard and LaMarcus Aldridge have shown their capabilities in the court, the Spurs is reportedly still on the hunt for a perfect replacement for Parker. The team probably sees that role going to Curry.

The Knicks could pursue Curry in next year's free agency, and the team would have a free space for the Warriors superstar if they don't re-sign Derrick Rose. Recent rumors claimed that the Knicks is aiming to acquire Russell Westbrook, though that ended when he signed a contract extension with the Oklahoma City Thunder this week.

A separate report from Sportsrageous noted that Curry could consider joining the Knicks if the team performs well in next season's playoffs. But there's also a chance that Curry and Durant's duo would work and propel the Warriors to win plenty of championship games. If Curry's dynamic with Durant flops, then the Knicks could step in next year's free agency and grab Curry.

However, Bleacher Report stressed that there's a low probability that Curry would leave the Warriors especially now that his prowess put him as the face of the team, while Durant is a welcome addition designed to push the Warriors to domination. If it comes down to it, Durant is more likely to leave the Warriors if his dynamic with Curry won't work out.
