Latest MMA News: Brock Lesnar’s Drug Test Results Could Have Been Received Before UFC 200

Last July 9, 2016, UFC 200 took place at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, in what was the biggest event in the history of not only the Ultimate Fighting Championship, but also the entire mixed martial arts world. The main event was headlined by the return of Brock Lesnar to the UFC, where he faced Mark "The Super Samoan" Hunt. Days after the event, it was revealed that Lesnar was using a performance enhancing drug, days leading up to the fight.

Brock Lesnar defeated Mark Hunt via unanimous decision after a grueling 3 round fight, cementing his successful return to the Octagon. Only days after Lesnar's victory at UFC 200, the United States Anti-Doping Agency broke the news that Lesnar's pre-fight urine sample contained a banned substance.

The USADA claims that they received Lesnar's results on July 14, 5 days after UFC 200. According to MMA Fighting, The USADA could have received the test results sooner if they requested for it, and would only have to pay a small fine. If they had gotten the failed drug test results on time, Lesnar would not have gotten the chance to make his UFC return.

Mark Hunt, Lesnar's UFC 200 opponent, was furious upon hearing the news. In a phone interview with The MMA Hour, Hunt talked about the Lesnar's situation saying "Look at him. There's no way that guy makes 265 pounds. That guy is a gimp, he's sticking needles in his ass like the rest of these cheaters."

The banned substance found in Lesnar's sample was the same substance that got former UFC Light-heavyweight Champion Jon Jones removed from the card, only 3 days before the event, according to CBS Sports. Recently, both Lesnar, Jones and former UFC champion Lyoto Machida have been removed form the UFC's rankings due to failed drug tests.

Brock Lesnar states that he will be retiring from mixed martial arts and the UFC.
