'The Flash' And 'Supergirl' Set To Have Not Just One But Two Crossover Episodes, It Will Be A Musical!

"The Flash" and "Supergirl" will be having not just one but two crossover episodes and it will be a musical. Accordingly, the episodes will be coming this 2017.

This is not the first time that "The Flash" and "Supergirl" have had a crossover but this is the first time that it will be a musical. "Supergirl" recently moved from CBS to The CW and many have expected that there will be more crossovers with the other shows like "Arrow," "Legends of Tomorrow," and "The Flash."

The Verge reported that both Melissa Benoist, the lead actress for "Supergirl," and Grant Gustin, the lead actor for "The Flash," have musical backgrounds. They have appeared on the musical series "Glee" in the past.

The executive producer of the DC shows on The CW, Greg Berlanti, said in a statement during his appearance at the Television Critics Association press tour that they are "going to be mostly preexisting songs" but they are going try and include at least one original song to the two crossover episodes. Fans will be expecting the two crossover episodes of "The Flash" and "Supergirl" during the second half of the upcoming seasons of the shows.

Other musically-inclined stars on "Supergirl" are Broadway vets Jeremy Jordan and Laura Benanti. As for "The Flash," E! News reported that the stars who have musical backgrounds are Broadway vets Jesse L. Martin, Tom Cavanagh, and Carlos Valdes. Berlanti added that they have a number of people who can sing across all the DC shows on The CW and teased that there will be exciting appearances on the musical crossover episodes for "Supergirl" and "The Flash."

There are no other details as to which characters from "Supergirl" and "The Flash" will be involved in the songs and what preexisting songs will be included. Berlanti pointed out that he will be happy to take requests from fans regarding what they want to see and hear. Fans would have to tweet about it and Berlanti will see how it will weave into the musical crossover episodes of "Supergirl" and "The Flash."
