'Homeland' News Update: Show Gets Renewed For More Installments And Premiere Date For Season 6 Announced, Quinn's Fate Revealed

"Homeland" Season 6's premiere date has been announced and the show has also been renewed for more installments by Showtime. The fate of Quinn has also been recently revealed.

Showtime's president, David Nevins, was at the exec panel at Television Critics Association Summer Press tour and announced that "Homeland" will be coming back this January 15, 2017. Production of "Homeland" Season 6, which will feature more adventures for the lead characters Carrie Mathison, will be starting in a few weeks in New York City.

E! News reported that "Homeland" Season 6 will be returning to the homeland after Season 5 showed the characters going to Europe. The plot for Season 6 will focus on the timeline between Election Day and Inauguration Day. Showrunner Alex Gansa recently said that the timeline is interesting as it is a transition and it is the time where the transfer of power is happening. He noted that in those 72 days, they hope that they will tell an interesting story for "Homeland" Season 6.

As for the renewal of "Homeland," Nevins said that they have decided to renew it for three more seasons. Programming president Gary Levine said that the political thriller deserved the multi-season renewal. More on Quinn's fate in "Homeland" Season 6, TV Line reported that fans got to see him possibly dying in the season 5 finale of the show but that is not the case says Gansa. He teased, "How [Quinn] is gonna be dramatized this year is going to surprise people, and it may not be what you think." Gansa pointed out that Quinn is very much alive but he is very changed for "Homeland" Season 6.

Other spoilers for "Homeland" Season 6 include Elizabeth Keane, the new president for the show. Gansa described President Elizabeth Keane as a little bit Hillary Clinton, a little bit Donald Trump, and a little bit Bernie Sanders. Carrie's relationship with Saul and the CIA will also be shown in "Homeland" Season 6.
