Teenager Addicted To Viagra Admits Pill-Taking Has 'Ruined His Life' - How Is He Recovering?

A teenager is speaking out about his addiction to Viagra, the drug that is supposed to help older men with impotence or erectile dysfunction. The young boy confessed that he started taking this at 13 and admitted that his dependence on the drug has ruined his life. He hopes his story will serve as an eye-opener for parents and other teenage boys.

Speaking with Mirror, the boy from Lancashire in Britain -- who is now 15 -- said that he took Viagra because his classmates' warned him before his first sexual experience with his girlfriend. The Viagra was supposed to help him be better in bed and he has since become addicted to it.

Eventually, he would steal money from his parents to buy the drug, which led him to take at least six pills during nights of sex parties with friends. The report suggested that his parents were clueless about his activities -- that is, until he confessed. He sought his parents' help back in November, when he discovered that he couldn't function sexually without the aid of Viagra.

The 15-year-old revealed that kids have easy access to the drugs and thus are warning parents that they should be aware that this is really happening. "I wish I had never tried it," said the boy, who has come to fully regret his addiction. He is now undergoing psychotherapy in the hopes of overcoming his Viagra dependency.

Metro reports that doctors have also warned the public about the dangers of the impotency drug on the hands of underage users. Teenagers will initially think that taking Viagra is harmless, but because it makes them feel invincible, then it becomes "psychosocially addictive," according to the boy's doctor, Steve Pope, in the report.

Coupled with teenager boys' obsession with pornography and sex, the doctor said that Viagra has become sort of a "magic bullet" for these kids. Though the drug requires a prescription to purchase, there are apparently loopholes that make it possible for teenagers to obtain their supply, especially online.
