'The Vampire Diaries' Season 8 Will Have Nina Dobrev's Return, Ian Somerhalder, Nikki Reed Sabotage Dobrev's Return; Somerhalder Still Hates Ex

Since Nina Dobrev has left "The Vampire Diaries," the show has not been the same. However, reports of her return for "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 is not being taken very well by her on-screen partner and ex-boyfriend Ian Somerhalder and wife Nikki Reed.

During the Sand Diego Comic-Con, Julie Plec made a major announcement about the last season for "The Vampire Diaries." When asked about the possible return of Nina Dobrev for the last season, Ian Somerhalder sarcastically announced that the return of Nina Dobrev to the show is impossible.

The group interview made it very hard for showrunner Julie Plec to provide more info on the return of Nina Dobrev as Ian Somerhalder was mostly interrupting and deciding for the showrunner that Nina Dobrev will not come back.

However, Julie Plec acknowledges the importance of Nina Dobrev to "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 which is why she said that Nina made a promise to her and the cast and that she wants to return once the season finale is set.

Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed are clearly sabotaging any chances for Nina Dobrev's return since according to reports, the two are having some marital issues, especially that "TVD" is getting to its end and Nina Dobrev may soon reprise her role on CW's "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8.

Emotions seem high for Ian Somerhalder as how he was answering the questions during the Comic-Con interview and even told Julie Plec that they have already talked about not having Nina Dobrev for "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8.

Fortunately for fans, it is not up to Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed on who would return for "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8. Mark Pedowitz, CW president, recently announced that they are already talking to Nina Dobrev and her possible return to "TVD" Season 8, according to Pop Sugar.

"She was integral to The Vampire Diaries," Pedowitz said. "Hopefully it will work out - but, should it not, Julie has planned a great series finale for fans."
