Vroom Shows How Simple It Can Be To Promote Your Child's Brain Development With New "Brain Building Basics" Video

Each time we interact with our children, millions of neurons fire at once, building neural connections that last a lifetime. These are brain building moments, and they strengthen children's communication and social skills, laying the foundation for future success.

In a new video tutorial, Vroom shows parents how they can have meaningful brain building moments with their children, without extra time or expensive toys.

Vroom, a free initiative of the Bezos Family Foundation, believes every child is born with enormous potential and every parent has the ability to help them realize that potential. Through partnerships with leaders in neuroscience, psychology, behavioral economics, parenting, and early childhood development, Vroom gives parents and caregivers simple tools to turn everyday activities, like mealtime and bath time, into brain building moments.

Here are the five brain building basics from Vroom's video that serve as the foundation of brain building:

Brain Building Basic #1: Look Children often point out what interests them, even before their first words. Parents can use objects and activities that interest their child to spark creative brain building moments.

Brain Building Basic #2: Follow

Parents can create brain building moments by imitating and responding to the actions or ideas of their children.

Brain Building Basic #3: Chat

Young children communicate through their movements and sounds. Talking out loud with children, even before they can speak, encourages them to learn about the world around them.

Brain Building Basic #4: Take Turns

Parents and children should take turns doing activities, as back and forth interactions foster brain development.

Brain Building Basic #5: Stretch

Parents can extend brain building moments by asking their child follow-up questions to activities. Stretching the conversation stretches a child's mind!

When you look at your children, they're already looking up to you. By incorporating these brain building basics, you are fostering your child's healthy brain development.
