NBA Trade Rumors: Sacramento Kings Not Trading DeMarcus Cousins, Will Get Ricky Rubio To Form Dynamic Duo? Rudy Gay To Be Traded

Reports about DeMarcus Cousins being traded this offseason has died down a little bit and now new reports are saying that Sacramento Kings will not be giving him up. Accordingly, they are ready to trade Rudy Gay in order to acquire Ricky Rubio so the latter player can form a dynamic duo with Cousins.

Accordingly, Sacramento Kings showed interest on Rubio after the point guard's good standing during the 2016 Rio Olympics when he played for Spain. Sportsrageous reported that the first time Rubio was linked to Sacramento Kings was after Darren Wolfson, of KSTP Radio, said that it is possible that he will be joining Cousins' team during the 2016-2017 NBA season.

Wolfson said that Rubio will most probably start the season with the Minnesota Timberwolves but he hinted that Sacramento Kings is a team to watch. He did not give away many details about the possible talks going on but it is possible that the Minnesota Timberwolves will make a move on Rubio.

It might also not happen since Rubio's performance at the Rio Olympics made him an all the more valuable player for the Minnesota Timberwolves. Analysts are saying, however, that Minnesota Timberwolves has a lot of point guards in their roster such as Kris Dunn, Tyus Jones, and Zach LaVine.

If the Rubio trade will take place, Sacramento Kings will reportedly give up Gay. Accordingly, Gay asked to be placed on the trading block and is ready to leave Sacramento Kings. If they succeed in acquiring Rubio, Sacramento Kings' rebuilding might change hugely as they could pair Rubio with Cousins, iTechPost reported.

It remains unclear if Minnesota Timberwolves is willing to acquire Gay. Accordingly, Sacramento Kings is also okay with letting go of Ben McLemore just to get Rubio. Others are saying that it would take more than just Gay and McLemore to acquire Rubio and have him star alongside Cousins.
