‘Samurai Jack’ Season 5 Latest News & Updates: He's Back, But Not The Jack We Know?

Our beloved samurai wielding, alien slicing, futuristically-challenged hero, Cartoon Network's "Samurai Jack", is back for an all-new season. After years of waiting, fans can expect plenty of nostalgia from the series' revival, as "Samurai Jack" continues his journey to look for a way back into his past and stop his nemesis, the evil Aku.

One of cartoon's most iconic heroes will finally get his comeback into the small screen, as "Samurai Jack," is all set for season 5, as the last episode of the famed franchise, before going off the air in 2004, left plenty of unanswered questions as to what happens next to the wandering Jack.

In a report from Cinema Blend, creator and director of "Samurai Jack", Genndy Tartakovsky, has stated that the new season will be somewhat different from the previous seasons of the series. Stating that the "Samurai Jack" development team is hard at work in piecing together the storyline for the latest chapter in the, fans can expect something fresh in the upcoming installment.

What's in store for season 5, says Tartakovsky, is that Jack will no longer be the strictly calm-headed and optimistic hero he once was in the previous seasons, and that fans will now see him as a bit of an anti-hero. Tartakovsky also added that this new story will be about Jack, who has lost his way through the years, trying to find himself again, and that it will be a story of redemption. Other members of the "Samurai Jack" development team have gone as far as calling the season 5 Jack "moody" and "emotional."

IGN also revealed that the "Samurai Jack" TV series will no longer be available, on Cartoon Network, instead, Adult Swim will now be airing the new season, which will allow for grittier and darker themes. With Tartakovsky mentioning that the new season will be "just as badass as the previous ones, or probably be even more".

There is still no confirmation for the release date of "Samurai Jack," but there are rumors of season 5 airing in late 2016 or 2017.
