NBA Trade Rumors: Oklahoma City Thunder Trading For Jimmy Butler?

Every NBA fans would agree that Oklahoma City Thunder has one of the big losses this offseason after losing Kevin Durant to free agency. Up to now, the team is trying to build their roster by adding more key players. The recent NBA trade rumors suggest that OKC Thunder should trade for Chicago Bulls' Jimmy Butler.

Jimmy Butler's name has been linked to NBA trade rumors recently and some sources claim that there are high chances that the Chicago Bulls' shooting guard will change zip code before the trading ends in February. If Bulls part ways with Butler, Morning News USA suggests that OKC Thunder should trade for Butler.

According to Tony Heim of Thunderous Intentions, Jimmy Butler would be a perfect fit for OKC Thunder. If Bulls and Thunder pursue this trade we will be seeing Butler with Steven Adams, Victor Oladipo and Russell Westbrook.

However, this NBA trade between Chicago Bulls and OKC Thunder comes with a new challenge for Jimmy Butler's new team. Reports have it that Butler likes to have the ball in his hands, similar to Russell Westbrook. In fact, previous reports suggest that Jimmy Butler struggled to adjust with his former teammate Derrick Rose, who is also like him, a ball-dominant guard.

Heim stressed that this is the same reason that caused Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook's split. Both NBA All-Star players want to have the ball in their hands. If Jimmy Butler joins OKC Thunder, it will just repeat Durant and Westbrook's issue and eventually, one has to leave the team.

Although there are potential issues on the offensive end, Jimmy Butler has a high value on defense. He will definitely work well with Victor Oladipo for Thunder' defense.

At the time, it is still not final if Chicago Bulls is trading Jimmy Butler or not. However, Butler already stated that whatever the decision of the team is, he will understand because it is business. Currently, all he knows is that he will still be playing for Chicago Bulls.
