‘Pokémon Go’ Tips & Tricks: Best & Easiest Poké Ball Throwing Techniques; How To Get Free Poké Balls

Catching Pokémon in "Pokémon GO" highly depends on how accurate a Poké Ball throw is. It's important for trainers to know the correct way to throw Poké Balls and successfully catch Pokémon. Otherwise, they're just wasting their precious Poké Balls on misses. "The L Throw" is one of the best Poké Ball throwing techniques out there.

For "The L Throw," "Pokémon GO" players need to pull the Poké Ball to the screen's left side and release their hold. Only let go of the Poké Ball when your finger reaches the height of the Pokémon on the screen, GamePress instructed.

"The L Throw" with Curve Ball is another guaranteed Poké Ball saver. This throw is a lot like "The L Throw," except it comes with a little twist. "Pokémon GO" players would have to spin the Poké Ball first before moving it to the left and throwing it just like the first technique mentioned above.

When catching a Pokémon, players should toss the Poké Ball inside the shrinking ring around the creature and land it on its head or nose. Take note that throwing Poké Balls would grant you catch bonuses ranging from Nice (10 XP), Great (50 XP), Excellent (100 XP), and Curve (10 XP).

Though it only yields 10 XP, a Curve Ball is a special kind of throw because it has a higher likelihood of landing in the center of the radar ring surrounding the Pokémon, iMore reported. Once it lands there, Curve Balls can give "Pokémon GO" players the Great and Excellent bonuses and help retain the captured Pokémon in its Poké Ball.

"Pokémon GO" players should also pay attention to the radar circle's color. Green means the Pokémon is easy to catch, and darker orange and red indicate a harder catch. Tougher catches may need an advanced type of Poké Ball such as Great Balls, which has a higher catch success rate and can be acquired after reaching level 12, according to IGN.

Majority of Pokémon dodge or jump over Poké Ball throws. To avoid this, "Pokémon GO" players should throw another Poké Ball immediately after the Pokémon dodged or parried a previous Poké Ball. Also, feeding a Pokémon a Razz Berry would make it like you and make it easier for you to capture it on your next throw.

Free Poké Balls can be acquired by getting XP and leveling up, visiting Poké Stops, and defending Gyms. Stay tuned to Parent Herald for more "Pokémon GO" news, tips, and tricks.
