‘Marco Polo’ Season 3 Premiere Date, News & Update: Netflix Series Cast Returning In Winter 2017? Kublai Khan Stays True To Form?

"Marco Polo" Season 3 follows a strong S2 finale for the original Netflix series on the Mongol Empire by creator John Fusco, with leads Benedict Wong (Kubali Khan) and Lorenzo Richelmy (Marco Polo). While the mill buzzed that Benedict Wong will be an uncertain player in "Marco Polo" Season 3, confirmations say that fans of the Netflix series can expect Kublai Khan to stay true to form in S3.

Certainly the "Marco Polo" Season 2 finale, "The Fellowship," left a lot of new questions for the Netflix series fans not the least of which is about the new enemy, the fabled Prester John. With the Mongol Empire about to be challenged again, Screen Rant points out that Kublai Khan and Prince Jingim (Remi Hii) will yet find out about the suicide of Prince Kokachin (Zhu Zhu) when Netflix debuts "Marco Polo" Season 3.

  Fans of the Netflix series can expect John Fusco and the "MP" cast to equal, if not surpass, the quality that "Marco Polo" Season 2 gave. Granted S1 of the Netflix original series was an average introduction of the material, but "Marco Polo" Season 2 rallied the tale into fighting form.

John Fusco explained on Deadline that the "Marco Polo" series recognizes the sophistication of its audience. "Secondly, it proves that viewers do not discriminate based on race; they are interested in quality programming and storytelling regardless of ethnicity and gender," John Fusco said of the "Marco Polo" viewership.

Screen Rant notes that "Marco Polo" Season 3 will pit Kublai Khan against the largely mythical Prester John. Fans of the Netflix series would remember that Pope Gregory X described Prester John as "The Hand Of God" in "Marco Polo" Season 2.

Although S3 confirmation had been teased by John Fusco on social media, Netflix Life warned fans that the "Marco Polo" Season 3 premiere date could take some time. According to the media outlet, Netflix could realistically release "Marco Polo" Season 3 by winter 2017.
