MMA News: Veteran Shane Carwin Makes MMA Return But Not With UFC

Long time mixed martial arts veteran and former UFC interim world heavyweight champion, Shane Carwin, plans on coming back to the fighting game, but reveals he will no longer sign with the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

Shane Carwin was one of the heaviest hitters in the UFC's heavyweight division, clearing out the once stacked heavyweight class with his knockout power. Known for his deadly right hand, Carwin went undefeated in his professional career before making his UFC debut. Once in the UFC, Carwin would win two more bouts via TKO, and went on to become the UFC's interim heavyweight champion.

Carwin would later lose the heavyweight unification fight against an upcoming Brock Lesnar, via submission in the second round. Carwin would again suffer another lose, this time, at the hands of Junior Dos Santos via unanimous decision. With back-to-back losses and succumbing to serious physical injuries, the former top heavyweight made the decision to retire. However, after five years since his last fight in the Octagon, Carwin made the announcement on The Underground that he would but on his gloves once more and make another run in mixed martial arts.

Carwin, who is now 41 years old, approached the UFC, along with his Ingrained Media management team to strike out a deal with his former promotion. After Carwin and his team and his team review his contract and spoke with UFC matchmaker Joe Silva, the two camps could not come to the agreement, and the deal eventually fell apart, according to MMA Fighting.

In a written post on The Underground, Carwin says that he and the UFC mutually came to the decision that his value and what he brings to any MMA promotion's heavyweight division would be better utilized elsewhere. He added that he is now a free agent, and looks forward to any fighting organization that would make him a great offer.

Currently, Carwin has not made an update as to where he will be fighting for in the future.
