Facebook Messenger Unreleased ‘Rooms’ Feature For Group Chat Being Tested

There is a new feature in Facebook Messenger that Facebook is hiding from its users. There is a feature called "Rooms" where users can group chat publicly about certain topics and things.

Tech Crunch has reported about the unreleased feature of the app. It is called 'Rooms' and is for public chatting. There are different Rooms and each Room indicates different topic to be discussed by different groups of people. There are links to be shared so people can join the Room chat. Users can also create their own Rooms and invite people with the same interest and chat publicly.

Facebook Messenger has not yet confirmed anything but they did say that they were testing the new feature of the app. According to Facebook, it was just a test run and nothing is established yet. They are still in the middle of the process and still improving the said feature. Its stability will depend on the test they are doing. This feature might not be wholly available for all Messenger users and is only accessible for a limited number of people.

On the other hand, David Marcus, Facebook's VP of Messaging Products, said in an interview with Yahoo Finance that group chat is Messenger's best feature. He said that there are over 300 million people who use Messenger app each and every month. They still want to have more users and more engagement. Maybe, Room feature is their answer.

There was an app called Rooms back in 2014. It did not gain much interest so it was removed the following year. However, with this new feature of Messenger, people can now chat with strangers. Room Messenger can limit the users' friends as to whoever has the same interests as them. It can also open new connections between strangers who share the same interest.
