‘Mass Effect: Andromeda’ Now Opens BioWare’s Casting Call; Be One Of The Characters, Here is How

It seems that some hardcore fans of the "Mass Effect" series can finally get their wish of entering the franchise' universe and joining the galaxy that Commander Shepard saved; BioWare just opened the doors to give some fans the opportunity to lend their voices to two characters to be included in the long-awaited "Mass Effect: Andromeda."

IGN reported that the BioWare, the developers of the universally acclaimed "Mass Effect" series, is now having its first ever Explorers Wanted Contest. The contest is looking for fans who might want to lend their vocal chops to voicing some characters for the upcoming "Mass Effect: Andromeda."

"You're an explorer. You've always wondered what it would be like to see the stars and discover new worlds," said BioWare's blog post. "While we can't physically send you to space, we can send your voice to 'Andromeda.'"

The specifics of the contest indicate that the characters that fans will have the opportunity to voice are one Jordan Tate and another simply referred to as Tough Mercenary. The scripts details for the characters describe Jordan Tate as a "smart and talented indie documentarian," likely someone who wants to get the grit on the frontier that is the Andromeda galaxy, while the Tough Mercenary is someone who lives the grit and difficulty of said frontier.

No gender requirements for the characters were indicated, though the vague label Tough Mercenary and the androgyny of Jordan Tate's name suggests that BioWare is open to either male or femals voices for both "Mass Effect: Andromeda" characters.

Of the two characters for BioWare's contest, Jordan Tate seems to have a relatively "bigger" prevalence in the story compared to Tough Mercenary, who might be a living prop character in place to enhance and liven the atmosphere of "Mass Effect: Andromeda."

Jordan Tate's script indicates that they will interview the game's protagonist, Ryder, likely in a similar vein to one of the previous "Mass Effect" trilogy's most memorable sequences. Fans might remember recurring character Khalisah al-Jilani, a reporter whose abrasive and forceful tactics in interviewing Commander Shepard throughout the series opened the opportunity for players to outright punch her.

BioWare's Explorers Wanted Contest for  "Mass Effect: Andromeda"  is open to all legal residents of Australia, Canada except Quebec, New Zealand, United Kingdom, and the U.S.; it will run until Sept. 28 at 6:59 AM GMT. Entries will pass through a panel of judges, with the winner(s) being notified by Nov. 30. BioWare will then fly the new perspective voiceover artists to a recording studio, with hotel accommodations for two nights.
