'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" Cast and Plot: Eddie Redmayne is the Only Choice for Lead Role

After the "Harry Potter" franchise, another JK Rowling project will hit the big screen. "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" big bosses revealed they only had Eddie Redmayne in mind to play the lead role.

In fact, Eddie Redmayne got to help to choose the wand his character Newt Scamander will use in "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them," the Collider said. David Yates movie will revolve around Newt, a writer whose book Harry Potter will read years after. The movie will take place in 1926 in New York during the election season.

Newt Scamander is a "magizoologist" who just loves animals, even more than humans. He was kicked out of Hogwarts. He got sidetracked by the creatures that came running wild when his briefcase popped opened. He fears the exposition of the wizarding world would lead to war.

Expect a new twist, though, as fans can expect that the plot for "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" will revolve around adults rather than children. The setting is something new, too, as the movie takes place in the bustling streets of New York City.

Eddie Redmayne even went to wildlife parks to see how animal handlers were doing their jobs, the New York Times reported. He also revealed that one of his favorite beast is the Bowtruckle whie playing his role in "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them."

"My inner 9-year-old is obsessed with the Swooping Evil," Eddie Redmayne said. The Swooping Evil is like a spiky ball which you can spin out like a yoyo but has venom, which Newt Scamander couldn't find a use for.

"Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" is shot in London but the story was first lined up to be a documentary. Eddie Redmayne is popular for his roles in "The Danish Girl," "Theory of Everything" and "Les Miserables," among others.

The Warner Bros. film also stars Ezra Miller, Katherine Walterson and Colin Farrell. "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" will be released in November in USA.
