Nexus 6, Nexus 9 LTE To Receive Android 7.0 Nougat ‘In the Coming Weeks’

Google has released the much anticipated Android 7.0 Nougat, the new Android operating system, some three weeks ago. But while Nexus device owners are supposed to get the new OS first, others are growing impatient about when they will receive the update, particularly those who own Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 LTE.

Because there were no factory or over-the-air images of Android 7.0 Nougat on Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 LTE handsets, people have been worrying that they might not get the latest version of Android OS at all. But according to Android Police, Google said that they are rolling out the update on these devices in the coming weeks. The confirmation is a welcome news, although users may still have to wait because the tech giant did not provide any specific timetable for the said release.

Meanwhile, if you're an owner of Google Nexus 6, Google Nexus 5X, Google Nexus 6P, Google Nexus 9, Google Nexus Player, Google Pixel C, and General Mobile 4G (Android One), there is a way for you to have the latest Android 7.0 Nougat. If waiting for the over-the-air update isn't for you, you can sign up for the Android Beta Program and enroll your device so you can participate in beta testing of new updates. You may have to wait for up to 24 hours to get the update, but if you're lucky, you will receive it in just a matter of few seconds after you've signed up and enrolled.

The Verge has shared how to install Android 7.0 Nougat now and enjoy its features. Watch below. The update is also coming to some of the newest models of other android phones such as Samsung Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, S6 Edge Plus, Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge; LG G5, LG V10, LG G4, and LG V20; and HTC 10, HTC One A9, and HTC One M9.
